Polar Bear

Overview
Polar Bears are wild animals that roam the surface of the Snow Biome. Despite their name and appearance, they are not naturally hostile and will not harm players when approached, but they become aggressive quickly if attacked.
They are notable for being surprisingly fast for their size, and they have above average stats for the point in progression where they appear. This makes them more dangerous than their passive behavior initially suggests, especially if the player accidentally hits one while fighting other enemies or harvesting nearby resources. When dealing with Polar Bears, it is best to avoid unnecessary attacks and be ready for them to turn on you immediately.
- Found on the surface of the Snow Biome
- Initially passive, but becomes hostile if attacked
- Moves quickly for a large animal
- Has above average stats for its progression level
- Drops a Polar Claw on death
Because they start neutral, Polar Bears can be mistaken for harmless wildlife. That can make them especially risky in crowded fights, since a stray weapon swing or projectile can trigger them at close range. Their speed also means they can close distance faster than expected, so even though they are not aggressive by default, they should still be treated as a real threat once combat begins.
Their drop, the Polar Claw, is the main reason to kill them. Since they are located in a biome associated with early cold-region progression, players encountering them for the first time should keep their distance until they are ready to fight, or simply leave them alone if the drop is not needed.
