Allergic Reaction

Allergic Reaction is a disease that affects Duplicants and is associated with Floral Scent germs. It appears as the result of exposure to floral scents, most notably from Bristle Blossoms and Buddy Buds, which spread the germ in nearby gases. Bristle Blossoms only spread Floral Scent while blooming, but that is still enough to contaminate surrounding air and make the disease a practical concern in farms and base areas.

The disease’s effects are tied to the allergic trait: while afflicted, the Duplicant gains +15% stress per cycle and +10 sneeziness, while everyone else receives -5% stress per cycle. Its duration is very short at 0.1 cycle, but it is still undesirable because it can interrupt work and contribute to stress problems.

Allergic Reaction can be prevented for 720 seconds by Allergy Medication from the Apothecary. The same medicine also cures the disease once it has been contracted. The medication is crafted in the Apothecary from 1 Blossom Seed + 1 kg Dirt = 1 Allergy Medication. It can also be mitigated with bleach stone.

Because Bristle Blossoms are the main source of Floral Scent germs, using them safely usually means isolating the plants from living areas or handling their surroundings with care. Polluted oxygen generated by slime in a Floral Scent atmosphere does not carry slimelung; instead, it contains Floral Scent germs, which can be used to make slimelung-free oxygen with slime, Buddy Bud, and a deodorizer. Floral Scent germs survive in a temperature range of -10°C to 100°C and a pressure range of 0 kg to 1000 kg.

• Allergy Medication is the direct answer to both prevention and treatment.
• Bristle Blossoms and Buddy Buds are the main sources to watch for when controlling spread.
• If you want to avoid the disease entirely, keep Duplicants away from Floral Scent-filled gas unless you are prepared to disinfect or medicate.
• Since the disease duration is short, the main issue is repeated exposure rather than a single hit.
