Floral Scent

Floral Scent is a germ that appears in gases around certain plants and in some generated materials. It is associated primarily with Buddy Bud and Bristle Blossom, both of which spread the germ into nearby gas. Buddy Bud produces it continuously, while Bristle Blossom only releases Floral Scent when it blooms. Slime can also interact with it indirectly: polluted oxygen generated by slime in a Floral Scent atmosphere contains Floral Scent instead of Slimelung, which makes a slime, Buddy Bud, and deodorizer setup useful for producing Slimelung-free oxygen.

Floral Scent infects at a temperature range of -10°C to 100°C and a pressure range of 0 kg to 1000 kg. It can be disinfected by solid, gas, oxygen, and liquid, and it dies off much faster in polluted oxygen than in oxygen. Infection chances are strictly binary and are not affected by immune boosting.

The germ can affect Duplicants with allergic traits and has a short duration of 0.1 cycle. For allergic Duplicants it causes Stress +15%/cycle and Sneeziness +10; for everyone else it gives Stress -5%/cycle. Allergic reactions can be prevented for 720 seconds by Allergy Medication from the Apothecary. The same medicine also cures the condition, and bleach stone can mitigate it.

In practical use, Floral Scent is usually a minor nuisance rather than a major hazard, but it is worth managing around farms and oxygen systems if allergic Duplicants are nearby. A few points to keep in mind:

• Buddy Bud is the steady source, so any exposed gas around it will tend to accumulate Floral Scent over time.
• Bristle Blossom only becomes a source when it blooms, so the germ output can be intermittent rather than constant.
• Polluted oxygen is especially effective at reducing the germ, which makes contaminated oxygen lines or rooms less persistent as a source of spread than clean oxygen.
• Because infection is binary, standard disease resistance does not help once exposure occurs.
• If allergic Duplicants are present, keep Allergy Medication available for prevention during risky work and for treatment after exposure.

Overall, Floral Scent is best treated as a localized environmental germ tied to specific plants and atmospheres. It is easy to suppress with the right gas environment, and its main gameplay impact comes from its interaction with allergic traits rather than from direct lethality.
