Copper

Overview
Copper is a refined metal used in construction and industry. It is one of the basic materials for advanced power systems, buildings, and automation, making it a common mid- to late-game resource for colony infrastructure. Its main advantage is its +20% decor bonus, which makes it especially useful when building equipment and rooms where decor matters.
Copper is also used in the Exosuit Forge to produce Atmo Suits. The recipe uses 300 kg Copper and 2 units of Reed Fiber to create 1 Atmo Suit. This makes Copper important not only for base expansion, but also for preparing Duplicants to work in hazardous environments.
In practice, Copper is most valuable when you need a refined metal that contributes to both function and appearance. It can be used for:
- advanced power systems
- buildings
- automation systems
- decor-sensitive constructions
Because it is a refined metal, Copper fits into the same general role as other high-quality construction materials, but its decor bonus gives it an edge in spaces where colony morale and room aesthetics matter. This makes it a strong choice for exposed infrastructure, public rooms, and finished builds where plain utility is not the only concern.
Copper also has a direct role in suit production, so maintaining a reserve is useful even if your colony has already moved on to stronger power materials. Since Atmo Suits require Copper in a fairly large amount, planning ahead for suit manufacturing can prevent bottlenecks when expanding into dangerous biomes or polluted atmospheres.
