Cobalt Gas

Cobalt Gas is the gaseous form of Cobalt. It appears in the game’s material visuals as a gas-state variant associated with Cobalt, but the available information does not describe any direct production chain, harvesting method, or special gameplay behavior for it.

Most practical references for Cobalt itself still apply to the element’s material uses rather than this gas form. Cobalt can be refined from Cobalt Ore in a 1:1 ratio using a Metal Refinery, or processed in a Rock Crusher at reduced efficiency, where 100 kg of Cobalt Ore becomes 50 kg Cobalt and 50 kg Sand. Both methods require Duplicant operation. Cobalt Ore is also a valid food source for Stone Hatches, which turn it into Coal, and for Smooth Hatches, which excrete Cobalt at 75% mass.

Cobalt is notable for its extremely high thermal conductivity, making it a useful substitute for diamond in temperature shift plates when needed. On resource missions, it can also be harvested from Swampy Ore Fields at a rate of 54–162 kg per cycle.
