Pyrite

Pyrite is a solid resource element that can be collected from renewable space points of interest and brought back by rocket missions. It is also notable as a source of iron: Pyrite can be processed into Iron using either the Rock Crusher or the Metal Refinery, making it one of the ways to turn a mined resource into a usable metal for base construction and machinery.

It can be harvested on rocket missions from several renewable space biomes, with different yields depending on the destination:

• Rocky Asteroid Fields: 108–324 kg per cycle
• Metallic Asteroid Fields: 94.5–283.5 kg per cycle
• Sandy Ore Fields: 54–162 kg per cycle

In real life, pyrite is known for its gold-like sheen and is often called fool’s gold. That appearance gives the resource its name and makes it one of the more recognizable mineral curiosities in the game’s material roster.
