Overview

Liquid Carbon Dioxide is the liquid state of carbon dioxide and is most notably associated with Carbon Dioxide Geysers, which periodically eject it. In normal colony conditions it tends to turn into gas very quickly, so it is usually not a stable long-term liquid to store or transport unless the environment is controlled.

A solid form also exists as Solid Carbon Dioxide, and this can be obtained from certain destinations on the starmap in both the base game and Spaced Out. That makes carbon dioxide a material that can appear in multiple states depending on how it is generated or acquired, with Liquid Carbon Dioxide being the fleeting intermediate form.

Because it is tied to geyser output and rapid phase change, practical use generally depends on immediate handling rather than open storage. If liquid carbon dioxide is expected to remain in place, surrounding temperature and containment matter, since the liquid will not stay liquid for long in ordinary conditions.
