Liceloaf

Liceloaf is a processed food made from Meal Lice. It is one of the ways to turn early-game Mealwood production into a more durable food supply, especially when a colony has plenty of Dirt but limited water. Because it is derived from a crop that does not need irrigation, it fits well in dry starts such as a Forest Biome colony.

Its main advantage is convenience and shelf-life rather than raw efficiency. Making Liceloaf effectively converts 50 kg of water into 500 kcal of food, which is less efficient than Bristle Blossom farming at the same water cost. If water is scarce, eating Meal Lice directly is usually the better choice. The preparation time is also relatively long, but it does not require the Cooking skill.

A few practical notes:

• Liceloaf is a reasonable upgrade when a colony already has surplus water and wants a more stable food reserve.
• If Dirt is abundant and water is tight, keep Mealwood running for fresh Meal Lice instead of spending resources on Liceloaf.
• Since Mealwood is easy to sustain early, Liceloaf can serve as a mid-early food bridge until higher-quality farming becomes practical.
• Because it is a processed food, it is useful when you want to extend the usefulness of an existing Mealwood farm without changing the crop itself.

In practice, Liceloaf is most valuable when a colony is trying to stretch an established Mealwood chain into a longer-term food solution.
