Antler Pickaxe

This tool is hard enough to crack even the most stubborn rocks.
Overview
The Antler pickaxe is the first pickaxe the player can craft in Valheim. It is unlocked after defeating Eikthyr, who drops the Hard Antler needed for the recipe. It is a basic but useful mining tool for early progression, and despite its humble status it can remain serviceable longer than expected.
The Antler pickaxe is crafted from 10 Wood and 1 Hard antler. It has 100 durability and deals 18 pierce and 18 mining damage. It cannot be upgraded, so its stats stay fixed for its entire lifespan.
It is used to mine stone and early ores such as copper and tin, and it is also sufficient for iron mining. Even so, it is the weakest pickaxe available to the player, so it is usually replaced by the Bronze Pickaxe as soon as possible.
A few practical notes make it more useful than its low tier suggests:
- It can be repaired at a Workbench, which can make it preferable to the Bronze pickaxe in some situations.
- Its attack hitbox extends below the player’s feet, allowing it to dig downward.
- Because of that hitbox, mining can easily trigger the 33% damage penalty that applies when striking the ground.
- It is a two-handed weapon and has -5% movement speed.
- Its defensive values are 10 defense, 20 parry force, 2x parry bonus, 50 knockback, and 3x sneak attack.
