Serpent Meat

A slice of sea serpent. Smells fishy.
Overview
Serpent meat is a food item dropped from Serpents and one of the most valuable meats in the game. It can be cooked on an Iron Cooking Station, where it becomes cooked serpent meat, and it is also used in later cooking. Unlike most other meat-based foods, it must be prepared on an Iron cooking station rather than a standard campfire or cooking rack.
The meat is especially prized because it provides a large health boost, making it worth saving for high-value meals such as Serpent Stew. If you have more than you need, it is often better to cook it than to eat it raw as a basic meal, since the finished stew offers better overall health and stamina.
A few practical points make it easier to use:
- Serpent meat floats and can remain on the water for a long time. If you kill a Serpent during a storm and cannot collect the drops immediately, returning quickly may let you recover the meat.
- It is much heavier than other foods, so carrying too much can become a burden.
- Because the ingredients for Serpent stew are relatively easy to obtain, serpent meat is usually most valuable when reserved for that recipe rather than eaten on its own.
- If you have excess serpent meat, cooking it on an Iron cooking station is the usual way to make it ready for later use.
