Trooper

Overview
Trooper is an Order soldier encountered as a hostile creature in Abiotic Factor. Like other Order infantry, it can appear either standing still or patrolling with other soldiers, and it will attack entities, robots, and the player on sight. It functions as a ranged combatant, so it is dangerous in open spaces and while grouped with other Order forces.
Troopers do not have a Compendium entry, and they are generally considered to fall under the broader Triarii / Grunt category of Order enemies. They also wear shotgun shells on their shoulder pads, but they do not actually use a shotgun in combat.
In battle, Troopers tend to keep their distance and will periodically try to move away from the player, which makes ranged weapons especially effective against them. Shields are also useful, since they can block both their gunfire and their melee attacks when they close the gap.
Troopers drop a fixed weapon and a small set of military supplies when killed:
- Patois Rifle — 100%
- 5.56 Ammo — 100% of 2, and 50% of 2–5 more
- Kevlar Scrap — 100%
- Military Electronics — 60%
- Cracked Shoulder Light — 50%
- Military M.R.E. — 2%
- Cloth Scrap — 1%
They can also be harvested for body parts and other remains:
- Human Skull — 100%
- Human Arm (Military) — 50%
Because the rifle and ammunition are guaranteed drops, Troopers are a reliable source of early-to-mid combat gear and military components. Their other materials are less certain, but Military Electronics and Kevlar Scrap make them valuable targets whenever an Order patrol is available.
