Rise

Overview
Rise, formally known as the GATE Rise Bio-Laboratory, is a Portal World centered on GATE’s research into biotechnology, virology, genetics, and related fields. It is one of the most dangerous locations currently available, and by the time the player reaches it, the site has already been heavily overrun by the Order. The accessible play space is limited to the top level and the roof, while the rest of the building remains out of reach.
The area is populated by dead GATE employees of varying ranks, along with active Order forces controlling the site. A Breacher is encountered not long after the player spawns in, two Snipers cover the path toward the executive office, and a Grunt mans a stationary machine gun on the roof beside the Order’s helicopter. The location’s interior and upper exterior spaces make it a tense, combat-heavy zone rather than a place to explore at leisure.
Rise is also notable for its environmental resources. It is the first Portal World to feature respawning medkits mounted on walls, which makes basic medical supplies renewable here, including Bandages, Healing Syringes, Splints, and Iodine Tablets. Two crates respawn throughout the realm, and Security Wood Crates can be broken for drops as well. One crate is located under the rooftop helicopter pad beside a support beam, while another is inside a small cave where P. Dupont is. Additional crate locations include areas near trucks on the road, a flipped truck beside a broken stretch of road, and the large Gale Reactor combat area near corpses on the Order’s side.
The portal to Rise is unlocked by completing the laser lab puzzle in the Adjustment Wing of Cascade Laboratories after burning off the invasive goo with the required tool. The portal appears at the Lens Epicentre. The same tool can also be used to solve the laser lab puzzle more efficiently.
Several notable details make Rise stand out. A corpse of a Keystone member can be found in the supervisor’s office, and a unique unarmed United States Army corpse appears in a restroom with a Breacher, identifiable by the olive shirt marked “US Army” and the lack of a GATE ID. The location can also spawn Leyak and Coworker enemies, though this is unusual. Rise’s layout and enemy placement make it especially important to move carefully, clear sightlines before advancing, and use the few safe openings to collect supplies.
- The site is effectively limited to the upper portions of the building and the roof.
- Expect heavy Order resistance, especially near the spawn area, the executive office approach, and the helicopter roof.
- Respawning wall medkits make Rise a reliable place to refresh medical supplies.
- Crates and crate spawns make it worthwhile to revisit after progression or during resource runs.
