Royal Range

The eighth of fifteen 'worlds' in Space Queen, Royal Range (featured in the in-game level "Rumble on the Royal Range") is theorized to be a simulated environment running on highly advanced processing equipment within IS-0083.
A mid-difficulty design, Royal Range sits between Painted Planet and Mighty Moon, challenging players to open the way by collecting a number of Royal Crowns. IS-0083's incorporation of the players' complete current awareness (CCA) results in no single correct solution set, given the variance of equipment each player's awareness may introduce into the environment.
Subsequent to its theorized infection by IS-0307, Rumble on the Royal Range is the only level available to players. Players are ejected from the simulation upon completing its requirements and cannot progress further into the game. Previous to infection, players had reported prior and subsequent levels all the way up to the final boss, but completion immediately returns players to the starting screen. Dr. Hammond reported an impressive full-game completion time of 3 and one-half hours by a Mr. Beckett, of Janitorial.
Due to infection, the regular enemies in Royal Range also have heightened aggression, likewise associated with IS-0307, but the greater effects of which are still being studied.
Overview
Royal Range is a portal world found in the arcade machine inside the cell labeled IS-0083 in Containment Block Helmholtz at Cascade Laboratories. It is the eighth of fifteen “worlds” in Space Queen, and the in-game level is titled Rumble on the Royal Range. In the GATE Compendium, it is described as a simulated environment running on highly advanced processing equipment within IS-0083.
The stage is a mid-difficulty world built around collecting Royal Crowns to open the path forward. Because IS-0083 incorporates the player’s complete current awareness, there is no single correct route through the level; the available equipment can change the layout and the approach from one player to another. After infection by IS-0307, Rumble on the Royal Range becomes the only available level, enemies become more aggressive, and the player is ejected from the simulation when the requirements are completed instead of advancing further. Before the infection, players could reportedly continue through later worlds and even to the final boss, but completion now returns them to the starting screen.
Royal Range is notable for its snowy, early-3D presentation and its strong resemblance to classic platformer worlds. Its power sockets have unique textures, and there is a secret on the small island in the distance.
- Cold resistance is useful here. Wearing armor or gear with cold resistance is recommended, and only +2 cold resistance is needed to fully resist the temperature effects in Snow Queen.
- Floating Royal Peppers dropped by enemies can also grant temporary cold resistance.
- Enemies cannot be killed normally; they must be stomped by jumping on them. The player can also double jump in the portal world.
- Teal cracked ice pits damage the player and launch them upward, but they can be fished from.
- Floating platforms with visible cracks break shortly after being stepped on, then reappear a few seconds later.
- Rolling snowballs grow larger as they roll; if they hit the player, they deal damage and launch them at high speed.
- The Dangling Gravity Cube makes many of the jumping sections easier, and the far-off island requires either the Dangling Gravity Cube or Gravity Dampener along with a Jetpack.
- The best way to reach the distant island is to use the trampoline with a crown above it, located low on the island near the end of one snowball track.
- To leave the Portal World, the player needs 7 of the 8 Royal Crowns. This only needs to be done once.
- There is also a secret tied to collecting all 25 Royal Coins, and this also only needs to be done once.
A Royal Coin can sometimes be obtained by butchering Frigid Queenfish caught from fishing, but this 10% drop does not count toward the 25 needed for the secret.
