While GATE's ability to localize neutrino emission sources is a relatively new field, researchers in the Cascade Facility's Neutrino Detection Apparatus have noted a strange interrelationship.

There is a strong statistical correlation with a surge in neutrino activity and certain behaviours of IS-0184-B.

The discovery was accidental, and remains speculative at this time, but when Dr. Elanor Newman used tachyonic field fluctuations to localize a series of unexpected neutrino bursts, they appeared to originate in the cell housing of an IS-0184-B specimen.

Furthermore, Dr. Manbanko noted that these periods also correlated with a phase of 'low-activity, stillness, and almost meditative behaviour' among all specimens of IS-0184-A in containment.

Dr. Newman noted that after isolating the source of the neutrino burst to IS-0184-B, data revealed 'hints' of previous 'incoming collimated bursts' from an external source, as yet unidentified.

DESIGNATION: Crucis (AG/GW/IN/R)

CONTAINMENT PROTOCOLS: All IS-0184-B subjects require heavy shielding and perforation-suppressing containment. All immurement sites must avoid geomagnetically and tellurically active locations.

Fail-safe connection to back-up power is required at all times, as even a micro-lapse in suppression fields risks containment failure. The subject cannot be approached unless sedated, and should be fed remotely.

IS-0184B is a near relation of IS-0184A, with some notable differences.

Able to generate a short-distance perforation using internal bioelectrical energy, specimens recovered from Anteverse 2 often display crafted decorations, indicating tool-making technology.

Further study is urgently required.

The creature's organs retain notable quantum properties when removed from its body.

Overview

The Exor Monk is an aggressive Exor creature that roams a designated area and uses a mix of ranged energy blasts, fast melee strikes, and short-range teleportation to keep pressure on the player. It is notable for disengaging after attacking, which makes it difficult to pin down in close quarters and gives it a strong advantage in open lanes and cramped interiors alike.

Its energy blast is a long-range attack and is best avoided with a timed sidestep as the arm-raising and launch animation begins. The melee attack is extremely fast and has a short effective range of about 1 to 2 storage crates, so it cannot be reliably reacted to on sight; the safer response is to stay beyond that distance or dodge backward or away when it crouches and raises its arm. After using either the melee attack or the energy blast, it teleports to a safe distance, so staying aggressive and mobile is necessary to keep it from resetting the fight on its own terms.

Ranged weapons are the most straightforward way to fight an Exor Monk because its tendency to move away and follow up with energy blasts makes it dangerous to chase blindly. Melee combat is still viable, but it works best when you deliberately force the Monk into its melee pattern, then punish that attack after dodging or blocking it. In Apocalyptic difficulty, the energy blast becomes much more dangerous because it fires three times in a steady rhythm during the same charge time, turning bad positioning into multiple armor-piercing hits.

  • Keep moving laterally when you see the energy blast wind-up.
  • Maintain more than 2 storage crates of distance if you want to avoid the melee attack entirely.
  • Tight corridors are especially dangerous, since the Monk’s repeated energy blasts can become difficult to dodge.
  • When using melee weapons, bait the fast strike, dodge it, and counter immediately.
  • It drops Raw Exor Heart guaranteed, and has a chance to drop Raw Alien Drumstick.

GATE records classify the Exor Monk as IS-0184-B, describing it as a near relation of another Exor specimen with distinct bioelectric abilities and unusual organ properties.
