Bug Terrarium
Overview
The Bug Terrarium is a device unlocked at Bug Catching level 30. It is used to breed bugs and produce Cocoons, making it a useful way to sustain a supply of Silk without relying only on wild catches. Once crafted, bugs can be placed into the terrarium by pressing the throw action with the bug selected, which triggers a short placement animation.
Bug Terrariums produce Cocoons when fed Honey through the box on the front of the unit. Feeding it each day generates a random amount of Cocoons, and butterflies, moths, and spiders have a higher chance of creating them. When the terrarium has reached 10 Cocoons and there is room inside, a bug will spawn, but only of the same type already in the terrarium. The terrarium can hold a maximum of 5 bugs at once.
- To make space, catch bugs with a Bug Net and remove them from the terrarium.
- If you want the terrarium to keep working efficiently, you may need to empty Cocoons periodically.
- Cocoons can be placed into a Spinning Wheel to produce Silk.
- Bugs caught from a Bug Terrarium do not count toward the Bug Catching compendium.
- When fed Honey, the terrarium produces at least one Silk per day regardless of the bug type inside, though butterflies, moths, and spiders still have the best Cocoon output.
The crafting recipe is unlocked at Bug Catching level 30.
