Overview

The Explorer is a desert cave NPC who appears after the Void Wizard has been defeated. Once found, they can be sent on expeditions to previously unlocked locations in exchange for Coins, and they can also be assigned to hauling, crafting, forestry, and farming tasks.

Expeditions are tied to progression through the Elder’s Quests and only become available for locations that are part of the current or previous quest progression. The farther a location is in the game, the more expensive the expedition becomes. The coin cost is randomly generated and is not affected by Happiness, so improving mood does not reduce the price of a trip.

When choosing a destination, the Explorer can bring back naturally obtainable loot from that area if the expedition succeeds. This includes chest loot, minerals, ores, and monster drops, making expeditions a useful passive source of materials from regions you have already reached. Failed expeditions return no loot at all. Success rate depends on how recently the destination was unlocked: the most recently unlocked expedition has a 60% chance to succeed, the one before that has an 80% chance, and earlier destinations have a 100% success rate.

Because expedition rewards can include valuable resources rather than just basic materials, sending the Explorer out can sometimes produce more coin value than the cost of the trip, especially when the loot is sold. This makes the Explorer useful both for resource gathering and for generating extra profit from areas that are already accessible.

  • Expeditions are limited to locations tied to the Elder’s Quests.
  • Costs scale upward with more advanced locations.
  • The most recently unlocked destination is the least reliable at 60% success.
  • Earlier destinations are guaranteed, making them safer for consistent resource income.
  • Successful expeditions can provide chest loot, minerals, ores, and monster loot.
  • The Explorer is also a general-purpose worker for hauling, crafting, forestry, and farming.
