Overview

Liquid Nuclear Waste is a liquid element produced by radiation-related systems and can be stored and transported like other liquids. It is obtained primarily from nuclear and radiation content: the Research Reactor produces it during normal operation and during a meltdown, and the Radbolt Engine can generate Nuclear Fallout while operating, which can then be cooled and liquefied into Liquid Nuclear Waste.

It is also produced indirectly from radiation exposure. When a Radbolt collides with a Duplicant, Critter, or another Radbolt, it releases 1 g of Nuclear Fallout per unit of radiation involved; that fallout can be cooled and liquefied into Liquid Nuclear Waste. Radiation Beetes drop 1000 g of supercooled Liquid Nuclear Waste on death as well.

For rocket logistics, Liquid Nuclear Waste can be loaded through a Liquid Loader connected to a Rocket Platform or another Rocket Port. A loader placed beside the port links automatically, and multiple loaders can be connected to fill a tank faster. The linked Rocket Platform’s liquid filters determine what is accepted. The Large Liquid Fuel Tank cannot be loaded using this building.

Because its production is tied to radiation systems, Liquid Nuclear Waste is usually a byproduct of nuclear power and radiation handling rather than a resource you intentionally mass-produce early. In practice, it is most useful where a settlement already has a Nuclear Reactor, Radbolt infrastructure, or a way to capture and cool Nuclear Fallout into a liquid state.
