Molten Lead

Overview
Molten Lead is the liquid state of Lead, found in very hot environments and most useful as an industrial heat-transfer medium. It behaves like a dense, high-temperature fluid with a wide usable temperature range and high thermal conductivity, making it well suited to moving heat through systems that would destroy ordinary liquids.
Because of its thermal properties, Molten Lead is often used in extreme applications where rapid heat exchange is needed. It can carry heat efficiently in machinery, aqueduct loops, and other setups that must operate near very high temperatures. Care must still be taken around the hottest materials in the game, since Molten Lead can vaporize into Lead Gas at Magma temperatures.
Molten Lead also has unusual phase behavior based on mass. At above 1600 kg in a tile, it freezes into a solid tile; at 1600 kg and below, it freezes into debris. This makes stored quantities behave differently depending on how much liquid is present in a tile, so it is important when moving or containing large pools of it.
Lead itself can be found in the Oil Biome, but it is not renewable, so any Molten Lead derived from it is ultimately limited by the amount of Lead available on the map. In practice, this makes Molten Lead a valuable but finite resource for late-game thermal systems.
- Best used where very high temperatures make other liquids unsafe or ineffective.
- Its high thermal conductivity makes it a strong choice for heat transport rather than long-term bulk storage.
- Avoid exposing it to Magma temperatures, or it will become Lead Gas.
- Large amounts in a single tile can solidify into a tile instead of debris once the mass threshold is exceeded.
