Molten Tungsten

Overview
Molten Tungsten is the liquid form of Tungsten, encountered as a very hot metal resource rather than as an ordinary mineral. In Spaced Out, it can be harvested on rocket missions from renewable space points of interest in the Glimmering Asteroid Fields, at a rate of 60–180 kg per cycle.
Like other molten metals, Molten Tungsten carries a large amount of heat, so handling it is mostly a matter of controlling where that heat goes before the material cools and solidifies. Since liquid metal exchanges heat with its surroundings more readily than debris, it is usually safer to give it a buffered cooling setup rather than letting it spread into the base. A pool of liquid can be used as a heat sink, and once the metal solidifies it can be collected and moved with automation.
Practical handling notes:
- Molten Tungsten is best managed in an isolated chamber so its heat does not spread into nearby rooms.
- Cooling it in liquid makes heat transfer much faster than waiting for debris to cool.
- If you are trying to preserve the resource, plan for a collection method after solidification so the cooled metal does not get lost.
- As with other molten metal sources, a steam-based cooling setup is well suited to absorbing the heat released during cooling.
Because it appears as a high-temperature metal resource, Molten Tungsten is primarily useful in systems designed to capture and redirect extreme heat, especially when processing or storing it alongside other industrial materials.
