Coconut Tree

Coconut Tree is a fruit tree found in the small tropical islands biome, the light green area on the map in the northeast Ocean. Each tree yields 3 coconuts per harvest, and ripe trees can be harvested by hand or with the Har-Vac. If a mature coconut tree is cut down, it drops Palm Wood, and it also drops coconuts if the fruit was ripe at the time.

Like other fruit trees, Coconut Tree can be planted in any biome or soil type. It takes 5 days for a newly planted tree to mature, then it produces fruit every 10 days afterward. The Plant Book can be used on the tree to check its maturity and fruit reproduction cycle.

Coconut Tree is grown from a coconut fruit using the same burial methods used for other fruit trees. A small tree appears once the fruit has been placed correctly. Common planting methods include:

• Dig a hole with the shovel, drop the coconut into it, then replace the dirt over the fruit.
• Drop the coconut on the ground, remove the soil beneath it with the shovel, then place the soil back on top.
• Drop the coconut on the ground and use a dirt printer over the fruit.

Fruit trees can also be relocated with Tree Pinchers or removed with an axe or chainsaw.

For orchard layout, many players keep small orchards around 10 to 20 trees. Two common arrangements are especially useful for Coconut Tree and other fruit trees:

• Planting in 2-wide rows with a 1-tile walkway between rows makes it easier to move between trees. This also works well if you use different grass or soil types between rows, since different mushrooms can grow beneath the trees in autumn depending on the ground beneath them.
• Planting a tree on each tile lets dropped fruit bounce to the outside of the last tree in the row, which makes collection easier when using the Har-Vac or when running along the outside of the orchard to pick up fallen fruit.

Because Coconut Tree can be grown anywhere, it is often more convenient to establish a productive grove near home rather than relying on the tropical islands after the first few coconuts are collected. Its regular 10-day fruit cycle and fixed 3-fruit harvest make it a steady source of coconuts once a planting stock has been established.
