Palm Tree

Source
Tropics Palm Tree Seed

Overview

Palm Tree is a tropical tree that naturally grows in the Tropics. It can also be planted in any biome as long as it is buried in dirt or sand, making it a useful renewable source of Palm Wood for players who want a reliable supply outside its native region.

A Palm Tree can be chopped down with a Basic Axe or any better axe. When felled, it produces 3 Palm Wood logs, or 4 logs if the stump is chopped as well. It also drops 1–2 Palm Tree Seeds, which can be replanted to start new trees. A Palm Tree Seed has a base selling price, and the tree itself can be tracked with the Plant Book while it is growing; once it reaches full maturity, the book no longer displays data for it.

To grow one, dig a hole and bury a Palm Tree Seed in dirt or sand. The tree reaches full height 5 days after being planted. Because it can be grown in any biome, it is one of the easier trees to cultivate near a base, especially if you want a steady wood supply without returning to the Tropics.

Palm Trees can also be used to create giant trees. If a Fertiliser bag is buried in the ground near a fully grown Palm Tree, and the player sleeps, the tree can transform into a giant variant. If the tree was grown from a seed, it must first reach full size before it can change. Cutting down a giant Palm Tree leaves behind a stump that the player can pick up. This makes giant trees useful when you want a larger harvest or are working toward the log stool variant made from Palm Wood.
