Paint

Paint is a single-use item used to customize the appearance of most vehicles, Wooden Crates, and Wooden Chests. It is applied by selecting the paint in the toolbelt inventory, standing next to the target vehicle or container, and clicking to use it. Paint can also be changed later by applying a different colour, while Paint Remover restores the item to its original appearance.

Paint comes in several colours, including Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White, and Yellow. Special Chrome and Gold paint are handled differently from the standard colours: they are only sold on Jimmy's Boat. Coloured paint and Paint Remover can also be found randomly in chests inside the Deep Mine, Undergrove, Hot Hot Hot, Jimmy's Boat, Island Reef, and Great Bite.

Using paint on vehicles contributes to the Painter milestone, which awards Permit Points. This makes Paint useful not only for decoration, but also for progression if you are working through milestones.

Paint also has a role in the Sky Fest event. Fletch gives the player a Kite Kit, which is used at the Kite Making Table at the front of the Band Stand to craft one kite. Kites can be made in all paint colours except silver and gold, and a white kite does not require paint at all. The available kite types are Box Kite, Diamond Kite, and Sled Kite, each of which can be made in multiple colours.
