Overview

Fletch is the first NPC the player meets in Dinkum and the main contact for progression on the island. She recruits the player for an expedition back to the island she once called home, first appearing in South City before traveling with the player to the island. From that point onward, she serves as the game's primary source of Tasks, Licences, and Deeds, and she can also be befriended through the usual daily relationship system.

She can be found working at the Base Tent Deed or Town Hall every day from 7 AM to 4 PM. During the early game, she is the NPC who guides the player through the island’s first steps: placing the Base Tent, setting up a personal Tent, establishing a Visiting Site, and unlocking core systems such as the Adventurer’s Journal, Milestones, and Daily Tasks. Her introductory dialogue also points the player toward the island’s regions, noting the tropical north, chilly south, flat eastern and western plains, desert center, and the importance of settling near water or a river.

Fletch’s task chain is closely tied to the game’s early progression. She introduces basic survival, crafting, and settlement development, then later helps unlock structures such as the Shop Deed and eventually turns John into a permanent resident. She also provides a practical boost early on by giving the player 2,500 Dinks toward the Table Saw purchase during the “Dinks and Table saws” task. Her quests are also where the player first learns several foundational systems, including mining, smelting, and construction materials.

  • She works as the player’s main quest-giver and settlement guide.
  • Her daily tasks unlock the player’s early tools, recipes, and deeds.
  • She can be talked to near the Dock during the early game before her role expands with town development.
  • Fletch can hang out with the player after work once relationship hearts reach 2 or more, and the “Let’s hang out!” option unlocks the next day.
  • She sends mailbox gifts when friendship is high enough; these random gifts can include Dink, an Old Key, a Blueprint, or Berkonium Ore, depending on friendship weighting and whether the player has spoken to her or completed a task that day.

Her dialogue reflects her role as a nostalgic but determined settler who remembers the island’s past and wants to rebuild it into a proper town. She frequently encourages the player to help make the island a place worth living in, and her comments about her father, the Adventurer’s Journal, and the old days in South City reinforce her connection to the island’s history and the player’s long-term goals.
