Berkonium Ore

Berkonium Ore is a rare late-game ore used in Franklyn’s questline to unlock new recipes for improved tools. Franklyn asks for 10 Berkonium Ore, but he does not actually take the ore from the player, so simply having it in inventory is enough to trigger the request and progress the questline.

It can be found in several high-tier areas and containers, with the most reliable sources being treasure rooms and special drops. Berkonium Ore appears in green wooden chests inside treasure rooms in the Undergrove and Island Reef, with Island Reef offering a better chance because it can also appear in buried green and blue chests there. It can also be obtained in a few other ways:

• mined in Hot Hot Hot as Raw Berkonium, which can be broken for a 0–1 chance of producing 1 ore or placed in a Crusher for 3 ore
• dropped when breaking open a Meteorite Chunk
• dropped by sparkling fish or bugs in the Deep Mine or Undergrove while the Bountiful Wish is active at the Wish Fountain Deed
• randomly stocked on Jimmy’s Boat
• rarely obtained from the Recycling Bin

When Franklyn seems not to acknowledge the ore, leaving the building, dropping the ore on the ground, picking it back up, and re-entering can help trigger the dialogue if the ore is already in the player’s inventory. Berkonium Ore is also associated with improved-tool progression, so it is worth saving any extras rather than selling or recycling them too early.

A few acquisition methods are especially valuable once available:

• Treasure rooms in the Undergrove and Island Reef provide consistent chances to find it.
• Hot Hot Hot can turn Raw Berkonium into multiple ore if processed through the Crusher.
• Meteorite Chunk breaks are a useful bonus source whenever one is found.
• The Bountiful Wish effect can turn Deep Mine and Undergrove sparkling catches into a rare ore source.
