Atmo Switch

Overview

An Atmo Switch is an automation building that shuts off power when the air pressure surrounding it surpasses a set threshold. It is useful for pressure-based control, especially in rooms and industrial areas where you want machinery to stop once enough gas has accumulated.

The switch checks the atmosphere around its tile and compares it to the configured value. When the surrounding pressure rises above that threshold, it cuts the circuit’s power supply; when pressure falls back below the limit, it allows power through again. Because it reacts to local air pressure rather than gas type, it is best used wherever a simple “enough pressure / not enough pressure” signal is needed.

In practice, an Atmo Switch is often used to automate vents, pumps, and other devices that should only run after a room has reached a desired atmosphere. It can help avoid over-pressurizing spaces and can be paired with gas storage, gas distribution, or environmental control systems. Since the check is based on pressure at the building itself, placement matters: it should be installed where the pressure condition you care about will actually be measured.

The building’s behavior is straightforward, but it is still important to account for the rest of the room’s layout. If the surrounding area has uneven gas distribution, the switch may trigger earlier or later than expected depending on where it sits. For reliable control, place it in the zone whose pressure you want to monitor, and set the threshold to match the point at which you want connected machinery to turn off.

Atmo Switches are one of the simplest tools for pressure automation, and they are especially convenient when you need a non-complex alternative to more advanced logic. They do not measure temperature, gas composition, or liquid presence; they only respond to atmospheric pressure.
