Anti Entropy Thermo-Nullifier
Overview
The Anti Entropy Thermo-Nullifier is a rare world-generated cooling building found in icy regions and other barren areas of the map. It consumes hydrogen gas and deletes heat directly, making it one of the strongest early- to mid-game cooling tools available before advanced refrigeration setups come online. Unlike many other cooling options, it cools only gases in its immediate area, so its effectiveness depends heavily on how well that gas can move heat to the material you actually want to cool.
Its base cooling output is -80 kDTU/s, with a minimum operating temperature of -173.15 °C. Because it only affects gas, it is commonly placed in hydrogen to take advantage of hydrogen’s high thermal conductivity and low condensation point. This makes hydrogen ideal both for transferring heat efficiently and for avoiding accidental liquefaction while the machine is running. Covering the machine with Tempshift Plates and surrounding it with hydrogen can also help spread the cooling effect more evenly through the gas, although the Tempshift Plates do not exchange heat with the building directly; they only help distribute the cold.
The building’s fuel also contributes to its heat deletion. If the supplied hydrogen is already warm, the Anti Entropy Thermo-Nullifier removes additional thermal mass from that fuel as it is consumed, so hotter input slightly increases its total heat deletion. Even so, it remains a net heat-deleting device regardless of fuel temperature. This makes it exceptionally efficient compared with many other cooling methods, though a Hydrogen Generator can outperform it if its fuel is heated enough.
Practical use is straightforward, but placement matters a lot:
- Use it in hydrogen whenever possible for best heat transfer.
- It is excellent for pre-cooling gas systems and for localized gas cooling in ice-biome-based designs.
- Mid-game liquid cooling is risky, because it can freeze Water, Polluted Water, and Salt Water in transit and damage pipes.
- Crude Oil, Petroleum, and Ethanol are more stable liquids to run near it, though prolonged operation can still freeze them.
- Super Coolant is the best liquid to pair with it, but it is not available until rockets provide Fullerene.
- A Mechanized Airlock-based heat switch can help regulate when cooling is applied.
- Before Super Coolant is available, it can be used for Sour Gas condensation.
Because the Anti Entropy Thermo-Nullifier only cools gases and does not directly interact with liquid loops, it is best treated as a powerful source of cold that must be integrated into a larger thermal design. Used well, it can stabilize an entire base section or enable advanced gas handling long before more expensive late-game cooling infrastructure is available.
