Super Coolant

Overview
Super Coolant is a late-game liquid used for extreme cryogenic cooling. It is one of the most powerful heat-transfer materials in the game, making it especially valuable for liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen production, but its very high heat capacity also means it moves heat extremely efficiently. In practice, that makes it excellent for precise low-temperature systems and dangerous if used carelessly.
It is produced in the Molecular Forge from 1 kg Fullerene + 49.5 kg Gold + 49.5 kg Petroleum = 100 kg Super Coolant. Because Fullerene is required, Super Coolant is effectively a space-age material and is normally not available until well into the late game. A 100 kg batch is enough to fully fill 10 liquid pipe segments.
Its main advantage is that it can be cooled far below the range of ordinary liquids without freezing the pipes. Thermo Aquatuners will not cool it below -272.2°C, and there is no risk of pipe rupture from freezing. This makes it the standard choice for the coldest industrial cooling loops, including compact liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen setups.
Useful applications include:
- Cooling systems for liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen production, where its extreme performance simplifies refrigeration chains.
- Using an Aquatuner to cool Sour Gas into Methane, then heating the Methane to produce Natural Gas.
- Any build that needs reliable transfer of heat at very low temperatures without phase-change failures.
Because Super Coolant transfers heat so effectively, it can remove heat very quickly but can also spread unwanted heat through a system just as fast. For that reason, it is best used in well-designed loops with careful temperature control rather than as a general-purpose coolant.
