Sulfur Gas

Overview
Sulfur Gas is the gaseous form of sulfur, most commonly encountered as the output of a Sulfur Geyser. It is useful as a source of sulfur that can later be condensed into the solid element for agricultural use, especially when feeding Grubfruit Plants.
A Sulfur Geyser can be managed in a Steam Room with a Steam Turbine placed above it. This setup lets the geyser’s output cool down to about 125°C, which is still roughly 10°C above sulfur’s freezing point. From there, the sulfur can be pumped into an actively cooled pool of water and brought down further to 50°C, which is suitable for Grubfruit Plants. The Thermo Aquatuner used for that cooling loop can be placed in the geyser room itself.
For efficient heat transfer, the sulfur pool should be kept as large as possible while still remaining only one tile deep. The recommended mass is about 740 kg per tile, since increasing the pool’s surface area and avoiding a second layer improves the rate at which heat is removed. This makes it easier to turn the geyser’s hot sulfur output into a stable supply of cooler sulfur for farming or storage.
In practice, Sulfur Gas is less something to actively work with and more something to capture and process safely. The main challenge is not the gas itself, but preventing the geyser’s output from staying too hot for practical use. A steam turbine-based cooling room handles the initial temperature reduction, and a secondary cooling loop finishes the job before the sulfur is delivered to its destination.
