Sulfur

Overview
Sulfur is a soft, low-melting solid element used in several mid- to late-game industrial and ranching applications. Its physical properties make it useful for creating “natural” tiles for Pip farms, since it can be shaped into terrain-like blocks more easily than many other materials. In practice, it also serves as an ingredient for farming and creature diets, and as a raw material in advanced production.
Sulfur can be obtained by cooling Sour Gas to its condensation point, where it becomes a mixture of Methane and Sulfur. It does not appear naturally on most vanilla asteroids, with the notable exception of the Aridio Asteroid, where it spawns in the Rust Biome. In the Spaced Out! DLC, it can be found in the Wasteland Biome and the Radioactive Biome, and it is also produced as a liquid by Sulfur Geysers. It can additionally be harvested during rocket missions from renewable Radioactive Asteroid Fields.
Common uses include:
- Creating natural-looking terrain for Pip farms.
- Fertilizing Grubfruit Plants, which require 10 kg of Sulfur per cycle.
- Feeding Sweetles, which consume 20 kg of Sulfur per cycle.
- Producing Fullerene in the Molecular Forge using 5 kg Sulfur + 5 kg Aluminum + 90 kg Graphite = 100 kg Fullerene.
Because Sulfur is both soft and easy to work with, it is often saved for ranching setups and specialized production chains rather than being treated as a general-purpose building material. In setups where Sulfur is abundant, it can support both Sweetle ranching and Grubfruit cultivation while also providing a path into Fullerene production.
