Overview

Nosh Noms is a food item obtained from Nosh Sprout. It is a harvestable ingredient rather than a ready-to-eat meal, and it is inedible while raw. Each bean provides 600 kcal as a basic food value, but it is primarily valued as a cooking ingredient for several higher-tier foods or for being crushed into Brackene.

Nosh Noms comes from Nosh Sprout, which can be planted in Planter Boxes, Farm Tiles, and Hydroponic Farms. A domesticated plant takes 21 cycles to mature and yields 12 Nosh Noms, while a wild plant takes 84 cycles. Nosh Sprout requires Dirt for fertilizer and Ethanol irrigation, and it grows only in a cold, carbon-dioxide environment. Its growth range is -25 °C to 0 °C, with gas pressure between 25 g and 10 kg.

  • Nosh Noms can also be obtained by digging up Buried Objects in a Rust Biome.
  • If the asteroid has no Rust Biome, there is no natural way to obtain more Nosh Noms.
  • Nosh Noms do not spoil while planted, so excess beans can be preserved indefinitely by leaving them in the plant.
  • Since February 2024, Pacu can eat 1 unit per cycle.

In terms of food planning, Nosh Sprout is efficient enough to support several cooked meal chains, especially when compared to other crop-based ingredients. The plant’s yield is enough to make it attractive for long-term dupe diets, and its beans can be used as a stable ingredient source if you are willing to maintain the required cold, carbon-rich farm conditions. When used as a raw ingredient, the value of each bean is straightforward, but its true strength comes from processed meals, where it contributes to significantly better calorie returns than its raw form.

Because Nosh Noms can be stored safely by keeping them planted, they are useful for preserving food reserves without refrigeration. If you are not ready to harvest a crop, disabling the tile it is planted on can keep the beans available without consuming them.
