Canister Drainer

The Canister Drainer is a utility building used to manage bottled gases through its Element Filter. By setting the filter, players can designate which gas should be accepted for storage, making it possible to organize canister deliveries by gas type and route specific gases into specific storage areas.

In practice, the Canister Drainer is useful for turning loose gas canisters into a controlled supply chain. It can be paired with Gas Pipe cleanup: using a gas bottler or assigning a Duplicant with the Pipe Work skill to clear Gas Pipe network contents makes it easy to collect filled canisters for later handling. Once established, this lets a base accumulate large amounts of bottled gas in a compact space.

A few practical points apply when using it:

• Its Element Filter determines what gas is delivered to the selected storage area.
• It is well suited to separating multiple gas types rather than mixing them into one pile.
• Gas release appears to have no maximum pressure limit, so a small room can hold a very large amount of gas if a water lock or similar seal is used.
• This compact storage method comes at the cost of significant Duplicant labor, since moving and unloading many canisters takes time and attention.

Because of that tradeoff, the Canister Drainer is most valuable in bases that already produce excess bottled gas or need a dedicated way to stage different gases before use. It is less about raw throughput and more about precise organization, allowing controlled storage where ordinary atmospheric rooms would be too mixed or inconvenient.
