Overview

Cool Slush Geyser is a geyser that periodically erupts polluted water at a relatively low temperature. Because its output starts cold and has a fairly high specific heat capacity, it is one of the most useful early-game sources of coolant and a convenient way to manage heat before more advanced cooling systems are available.

Its polluted water can be routed through a Radiant Liquid Pipe system to absorb heat from machinery and rooms that need cooling. This makes the geyser especially valuable in the early game, when power-efficient cooling options are limited. The output can also be sent directly into a Metal Refinery as a cooling medium, providing a simple way to keep the refinery from overheating while it is in operation.

  • The polluted water produced by the geyser is cold enough to be useful for heat removal, but it is not a permanent solution by itself; it is a liquid source that must be managed like any other coolant loop.
  • If the polluted water is going to be converted into clean water with a Water Sieve, it should be warmed first. Otherwise, the low temperature can cause the water to freeze in the pipes during conversion, leading to pipe breakage.
  • Care should be taken when using the geyser output with a Water Sieve, since the output temperature is below that of Water and can cause failures if the liquid changes phase in transit.
  • In early colonies, feeding the polluted water directly into a Metal Refinery is an efficient use for the geyser’s output, since it combines coolant supply with industrial heat management.

Because the geyser provides both liquid mass and useful cold, it often serves as an early backbone for a colony’s thermal control. Even after better cooling options become available, its polluted water remains valuable as a source of low-temperature liquid for industrial loops, temporary cooling setups, or water-processing chains that are designed with its temperature in mind.
