Tender Brisket
Overview
Tender Brisket is a cooked food item made by smoking Tough Meat into an edible meal. It is notable because Tough Meat is otherwise inedible for Duplicants, so this recipe is the only way to turn that resource into usable food.
The recipe takes 600 seconds and does not require Duplicant operation during the process, though a Duplicant must manually load the ingredients and remove the finished product. One batch uses 6 units of Tough Meat and produces 3.2 units of Tender Brisket worth 16,000 kcal. Since 6 units of Tough Meat contain only 9,600 kcal, cooking it into Tender Brisket adds 6,400 kcal of value.
Tender Brisket is therefore a straightforward upgrade path for any surplus Tough Meat. It is especially useful when a colony has access to large amounts of meat but needs to stretch its food supply further than raw ingredients would allow.
