Overview

Blackwood Tree is a naturally occurring tree found in the Billabong biome, usually near a fresh water source. It can also be planted by burying a Blackwood Seed in dirt or sand in any biome. Once planted, it grows to full height after 5 days.

A Blackwood Tree can be cut down with a Copper Axe or better. Chopping it yields 3 Hard Wood Logs, or 4 if the stump is also chopped, and it may drop 1–2 Blackwood Seeds for replanting. There is also a chance for a Bee Hive to appear after the tree is chopped down, although there is no visible sign beforehand to tell which trees contain one.

The Plant Book can be used on a growing Blackwood Tree to check its maturity; once fully grown, the book no longer shows data for it. Blackwood Trees can be turned into giant trees by burying a Fertiliser bag near or next to a fully grown tree and then sleeping so the tree changes form. If a seed is used instead, the tree must first reach full size before it can become giant. Cutting down a giant tree leaves behind a stump that can be picked up by the player.

Blackwood Seed is used for replanting and is the only direct product mentioned from normal harvesting besides the logs. A fully grown Blackwood Tree is also one of the trees used to create a Hard Wood Log Stool when grown into its giant form.
