Fish Tank

Overview
Fish Tank is not a crafted item; it appears automatically when a fish is placed on the ground. To create one, the fish must be placed normally rather than dropped, or it will disappear. Once the fish is in the world, the tank forms around it and can be picked back up later, which removes the tank along with it.
The size of the tank depends on the fish’s size. Small fish, such as clown fish, create a 1×1 round bowl, medium fish create a 1×2 rectangular tank, and large fish, such as yellowfin tuna and marlin, create a 1×3 rectangular tank. The fish itself is the only visible indicator of what is inside the tank, but the Fish Book can be used to check its contents.
Fish Tanks behave like placeable furniture in several ways. The player can walk on top of them, they can stack up to two high, and they can be placed on some furniture items. Additional items or even more tanks can also be placed inside, including on top of furniture or within a larger tank. The tank has a slight blue glow.
- To place a fish, put it in the toolbelt, select it, and then double-click or hold left click on mouse and keyboard.
- On a controller, double-tap or hold the place button to confirm placement.
- While the placement preview is red or green, press E to rotate before confirming.
- The fish can be picked back up, but doing so removes the tank.
