Communication Control

Overview

Task capacity determines how many buildings a construction drone can place before returning to Mecha. This makes the technology especially valuable when laying long Conveyor Belt runs or performing other large-scale builds, because higher task capacity reduces the time lost to drones flying back and forth. In practice, the benefit is not only more parallel builders, but also less interruption during extended construction jobs.
The research scaling was changed in version 0.8.19.7662, when Blueprint support was added and the drone/task gain pattern was adjusted for mass construction. Existing saves keep the bonuses they already earned, but any future levels use the updated values. This means that if you had already pushed the technology to a high level before the change, you may end up with slightly worse task capacity or fewer drones than a save that earned those levels under the new scaling.
- Early levels provide straightforward construction growth, while later levels continue as repeating research.
- Some levels increase construction drone count; other levels increase task count instead.
- Higher task count is most noticeable on long-distance building projects, especially Conveyor Belt placement.
- Because the technology is infinite, it remains useful throughout the entire game rather than having a fixed endpoint.
