Core Element

Core Element is a late-game item dropped by Dark Fog units at level 24 or above. It is a combat loot item rather than a craftable material, and simply having it in your inventory unlocks the hidden research High-Density Controlling Annihilation. That research in turn opens up access to a much more powerful fuel source, Strange Annihilation Fuel Rod, for which Core Element is also a component.

Because it comes from high-level Dark Fog enemies, Core Element is tied directly to progression against that faction. Its main role is not broad industrial use, but serving as the gate item for the Strange Annihilation Fuel Rod line and as one of that fuel’s ingredients. In practice, this makes it a valuable drop worth collecting even if you are not immediately ready to use it.
