Icarus

| Ability ID | Label | Description |
|---|---|---|
| movement | Movement | The most basic ability, allowing Icarus to walk around. Upgrading Icarus's movement allows it to walk faster, achieve low-altitude flight, and ultimately fly through space. |
| gathering | Gathering | Icarus can manually gather resources from a planet, albeit very slowly. |
| replicator | Replicator | Icarus can use the items in its inventory to produce items and buildings, at the same speed as the corresponding production facilities. However, some recipes cannot be produced by hand. Burning Energy Shards as fuel (obtained from the Dark Fog) also temporarily increases Icarus's hand-crafting speed. |
| research | Research | When researching new Technologies, Icarus can consume items in its inventory to progress the research. This can be toggled on and off. |
| construction-drones | Construction drones | Icarus itself does not construct buildings and facilities, instead deploying a fleet of construction drones. They can be upgraded to increase the number of construction drones and the speed at which they work. |
| weaponry | Weaponry | Icarus is equipped with a medium-range laser weapon from the start of the game and has multiple slots for different types of ammunition. They can be set to be used automatically or manually. |
| ground-and-space-squadrons | Ground and space squadrons | Eventually, the Dark Fog will become too much for Icarus's onboard weapons to handle. However, Icarus has a hangar for combat drones, which automatically are deployed when enemies are nearby and fight independently. Each individual fleet can be toggled on and off, and pressing 9 will put fighters into Command Mode, which causes them to focus on whatever target Icarus is manually attacking. |
Overview
Icarus is the player character in Dyson Sphere Program and the mobile platform through which the player explores planets, constructs factories, and advances through the tech tree. It can perform research using either Matrix Labs or its built-in research unit, consuming resources from its inventory. As the game progresses, Icarus becomes more capable through upgrades to movement, storage, power, logistics, and construction support.
At the start of the game, Icarus is equipped with a built-in Replicator that can craft Components and Buildings directly from its inventory. This is essential in the early game, when it serves as the only crafting machine available at the beginning. Some recipes cannot be replicated and must instead be produced in machines such as the

Icarus begins with four inventory lines of 10 slots each, and each item stacks according to its own stack size. Inventory Capacity research expands standard storage up to 10 lines.
The mech also has built-in energy systems. Icarus has a Mecha Core for energy storage and an Energy Circuit for energy generation, along with a fixed Core Power Gen of 80 kW. Its Mecha Core Capacity and Mecha Fuel Power increase with upgrade level, reaching very large reserves and higher sustained fuel output at later levels. Upgrading the Drive Engine also improves travel performance, with later levels increasing sail speed and warp speed.
Movement is one of Icarus’s most important progression systems. Its base walking speed is 6 m/s. Drive Engine Lv1 unlocks Fly mode, entered by double-jumping, which behaves similarly to walking. Drive Engine Lv2 unlocks Sail mode, which controls very differently and allows travel to other planets and, in theory, other star systems. Drive Engine Lv3 doubles the maximum sail speed to 2000 m/s, and Drive Engine Lv4 unlocks Space Warpers for effective interstellar travel. Further Drive Engine upgrades continue to improve warp speed.
Sailing is powerful but expensive, so efficient launches matter. In Walk and Fly modes, WASD movement is relative to the camera, Spacebar moves up, and Alt moves down. In Sail mode, W redirects velocity toward the camera direction and restores speed up to 100 m/s if it has fallen below that, while S slows Icarus down. Spacebar, A, D, and Alt also reorient velocity, but do not add speed below that threshold. Shift increases speed but consumes a large amount of energy, so minimizing thrust during departure is important.
Icarus also starts with construction drones. Initially it has 3 drones, each traveling at 6.0 m/s and capable of performing one task. Their quantity, task capacity, and speed can be improved through
