Energy Shield

Energy Shield is an infinite research item that strengthens Icarus’s personal shield. It increases both the shield’s capacity and its radius, making Icarus better able to absorb damage and extend protection to nearby buildings and combat drones. The shield’s recovery speed is not improved by Energy Shield; shield regeneration is instead increased by Energy Circuit.

The shield radius matters not only for Icarus’s own defense, but also for nearby allied assets. Any building or combat drone within the shield’s radius is protected by Icarus’s shield, effectively causing the shield to absorb damage that would otherwise hit those objects. In space, the shield radius becomes 10 times the catalog value. Even if an enemy moves inside the shield boundary, the shield still functions normally and can block attacks.

Because the radius increases visual coverage, raising it too far can make incoming attacks harder to notice at a glance. In practice, this means a larger shield can protect more nearby objects, but it can also delay the moment you realize the shield is taking heavy fire until it finally breaks.

The research progresses as follows:

• Level 1: +100 MJ capacity, for a total of 100 MJ; +2.0 m radius, for a total of 2.0 m
• Level 2: +200 MJ capacity, for a total of 300 MJ; +0.5 m radius, for a total of 2.5 m
• Level 3: +200 MJ capacity, for a total of 500 MJ; +0.5 m radius, for a total of 3.0 m
• Level 4: +200 MJ capacity, for a total of 700 MJ; +1.0 m radius, for a total of 4.0 m
• Level 5: +300 MJ capacity, for a total of 1.00 GJ; +1.0 m radius, for a total of 5.0 m
• Level 6–25: +300 MJ capacity per level, reaching 11.0 GJ at level 25; +1.0 m radius per level, reaching 25.0 m
• Level 26 and beyond: +500 MJ capacity per level; radius remains at 25.0 m

At level 3, Energy Shield also unlocks Energy Shield Burst.
