Jammer Tower
Overview
Jammer Tower is a defensive building that weakens enemy ground and low-altitude units by emitting electromagnetic waves. When supplied with ammunition, it periodically releases a shockwave-like jamming pulse that reduces enemy movement speed and attack speed. Its effect applies only to mobile units; structures such as Plasma Sentry are unaffected.
A Jammer Tower has 450 HP, a defense range of 40 m, and a firing rate of 0.2 shots per second. It consumes 1.20 MW while active and 90.0 kW in standby. Unlike many other defenses, it continues to emit jamming pulses even if no enemies are present, so its active power draw is always paid whenever it is enabled. The tower does not consume capsule ammunition unless an enemy is actually hit by its wave; one capsule is consumed for every 180 enemies affected.
The tower uses electromagnetic capsules as ammunition. Two capsule types are listed for use with Jammer Tower:
- Jamming Capsule: slows movement speed by 50% for 1.0 s
- Suppressing Capsule: slows movement speed by 80% for 1.6 s
Because the tower only jams once every 5 seconds, a single tower leaves large gaps in coverage. In practice, multiple Jammer Towers are often placed together and timed so that their pulses alternate, creating more continuous suppression. This is done through phase shift settings.
Phase shift delays a tower’s activation timing by a specified number of seconds relative to a base time. For example, if one Jammer Tower is set to a phase shift of 0.0 seconds and another to 2.5 seconds, the two towers will activate in alternating 2.5-second intervals. Proper phase shifting is especially useful when defending against fast-moving enemies, since it helps keep the jamming effect active more consistently across the battlefield.
