Logistics Bot

Overview
The Logistics Drone is the small automated carrier used for bulk transport within a single planet. It is stationed in Planetary Logistics Stations and Interstellar Logistics Stations, and when it launches, the station consumes power for the flight based on distance. Even though interplanetary shipping is handled by vessels, drones are still required for direct transport between logistics stations on the same planet, so they remain essential in late-game logistics networks.
A Logistics Drone carries items by unit count rather than by stack count. Its default cargo capacity is 25, and both its cargo capacity and travel speed can be increased through technology, especially Logistics Carrier Capacity and Logistics Carrier Engine. Because it is tied to logistics stations rather than belt-based transport, it is most useful for moving large quantities of materials between production regions without requiring long belt runs.
Practical points:
- Drones are the proper choice for same-planet station-to-station transport. Ships do not replace them for that role.
- Since each launch draws station power, heavily used drone routes should be supplied by a stable power grid.
- Their capacity scales with technology, so early networks may need more drones per route, while upgraded networks can move much more material per station.
- Because they move items directly between logistics stations, they are especially effective for connecting separated production blocks where belts would be awkward or expensive to route.
In practice, Logistics Drones are the backbone of planetary logistics once production spreads beyond a compact starter base. They let stations exchange materials automatically over long distances on the same world, reducing the need for manual hauling and simplifying factory layout.
