Kinetic Weapon Damage

Overview

Kinetic Weapon Damage is an infinite research upgrade that increases the damage of physical weapons. It primarily strengthens the Magnum Ammo Box line, whose ammunition can be equipped by Gauss Turrets and Icarus. It also benefits the Shell Set line, since half of its dealt damage is physical; this makes it relevant to Implosion Cannons as well as Icarus when using that ammunition.

The research starts at 100% and raises the physical weapon damage multiplier in steps. The first five levels provide comparatively large early gains, after which the research continues indefinitely with smaller repeating increases.

  • Initial: 100%
  • Level 1: +10% for 110% total, requires Weapon System
  • Level 2: +10% for 120% total
  • Level 3: +20% for 140% total
  • Level 4: +30% for 170% total
  • Level 5: +30% for 200% total
  • Level 6 and beyond: +20% per level, with increasingly high material costs

Because it improves ammunition rather than the weapon itself, this research is most valuable when you are relying on physical-damage weapons for defense or for Icarus combat use. The strongest immediate impact is usually on Gauss Turrets, since they can be scaled across an entire defensive line, but any setup centered on Magnum Ammo Box or Shell Set ammunition gains from the upgrade.
