Overview

Supersonic Missile Set is an advanced missile technology that becomes practical in the mid to late game. It requires titanium to unlock, and its production uses silicon, so it is generally not available for serious use until after interstellar transport has been established.

Compared with Missile Set, it deals 2.6 times the damage and has 1.2 times the explosion radius, making it a straightforward upgrade in both raw power and area coverage. The tradeoff is that its production chain is much more demanding. It consumes a wide range of materials, including iron ore, copper ore, silicon ore, coal, refined oil, stone, and water, and it requires larger amounts of those inputs as well. As a result, its supply line is even more complex than the one for Missile Set.

One important bottleneck is Processor, one of its ingredients. Processor is also needed heavily once research begins to rely on Information Matrix, so supplies often become strained at the same time. Supersonic Missile Set itself is not usually consumed in huge quantities, but the amount needed to keep conveyors, logistics facilities, and turrets supplied can add up quickly. For that reason, if you plan to rely on supersonic missiles, it is best to establish production early, build a generous stockpile before committing to Information Matrix research, and then only maintain a steady replenishment rate afterward.

  • Its combat behavior and detailed performance are tied to Missile Turret and Icarus’s ammunition slots.
  • The item is most valuable when production is scaled ahead of demand, since emergency buildup during active combat is harder than stocking it in advance.
  • Because the recipe reaches into multiple refining and manufacturing chains, it is usually best treated as a planned military supply rather than a casual byproduct of general industry.
