Raw fish

Overview
Raw fish is an item in Factorio obtained either by catching wild fish or by automated production introduced in late-game technology. Inserters are capable of picking up Raw fish directly from water tiles, allowing players to collect fish without manual interaction. In the space age, researching the Fish breeding technology enables factories to produce Raw fish automatically.
Raw fish produced via Fish breeding always begins with a freshness of 100%. Farmed Raw fish from Fish breeding has a fixed shelf life of 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 50 seconds of in-game time. Fish produced by Fish breeding cannot be used as an input for Fish breeding itself.
- Inserters can catch Raw fish from water tiles when set up to pick up items; this provides a simple automated collection method without the need for dedicated player action.
- Researching Fish breeding unlocks the ability to manufacture Raw fish in automated facilities during the space-age progression.
- Farmed Raw fish start at full freshness (100%) and have a fixed spoil time of 2:05:50; plan storage and use accordingly.
- Fish produced by Fish breeding are not valid inputs for producing more farmed fish, so a farm-to-farm loop is not possible.
Raw fish is represented in-game as an item that can be transported and stored like other items. The practical methods of obtaining it are wild capture by inserters and industrial production unlocked by Fish breeding. The differences between wild-caught and farmed Raw fish are limited to production method and the guaranteed initial freshness and spoil timer for farmed fish.
