Nutrients

Overview
Nutrients are a player-usable item produced by several alternative recipes that convert biological inputs into a generic nutrient product. The game includes five named production paths: Nutrients from spoilage, Nutrients from yumako mash, Nutrients from bioflux, Nutrients from fish, and Nutrients from biter egg. Nutrients produced from spoilage are created already half-spoiled. Recycling Nutrients always behaves as if the Nutrients were made from spoilage, so recycled output inherits the same initially spoiled state.
Nutrients serve as a consolidated way to handle a variety of organic resources and can be made in different production buildings depending on the recipe unlocked through separate technologies. Each alternative recipe uses a distinct raw material and may require specific buildings or technologies to unlock and produce it. The existence of multiple recipes allows players to substitute whichever organic resource stream is most abundant on their map.
- Nutrients from spoilage, Nutrients from yumako mash, Nutrients from bioflux, Nutrients from fish, and Nutrients from biter egg are distinct recipe names that produce the same Nutrients item.
- Nutrients made from spoilage are generated half-spoiled immediately upon production;
Recycling acts as if the source was spoilage for spoilage-related behavior.
- Module restrictions apply to some nutrient recipes: quality modules cannot be used in the recipes that produce Nutrients from fish or Nutrients from biter egg. Productivity modules cannot be used in the recipe that produces Nutrients from fish.
- Choose the recipe that matches your available inputs and unlocked technologies; using Recycling on Nutrients yields results equivalent to starting from spoilage.
- Because several recipes produce the same item, set up parallel production lines where convenient and prefer the recipe that minimizes travel and processing complexity for your logistics.
