Distributor

Distributor is a Serpulo-exclusive transport block that receives items from an input and sends them out equally across seven output directions. Unlike simpler routers that split between fewer directions, Distributor is designed to fan out a single input stream into seven distinct paths, ensuring even distribution of throughput when all outputs are connected and able to accept items.

The core behavior is deterministic: Distributor takes incoming items placed into its inventory and attempts to output them evenly to its seven outputs. The current game description (as of Version 7.0) states succinctly that it "distributes input items to 7 output directions equally." It functions as an advanced routing tool for networks that require many parallel consumer lines or balanced supply across multiple production chains.

Distributor has an internal item capacity similar to the Router. Because of that buffer, placing a Distributor directly adjacent to a high-output producer can result in the Distributor’s inventory filling up if its outputs are blocked or downstream consumers are slower. When the Distributor’s inventory is full, incoming items from the producing block will be blocked, causing the producer to stall until space frees up.

Practical usage and interaction notes:

• Use Distributor when you need to split a single conveyor feed into many parallel lines without building multiple consecutive routers; it handles even distribution across 7 outputs by design.
• Ensure downstream consumption is balanced or sufficiently provisioned; if one or more output lines are backed up, the Distributor’s equal-distribution logic and finite inventory will cause throughput loss and may clog upstream producers.
• Avoid placing Distributor directly next to very fast item producers unless the downstream network can absorb the combined flow; the internal capacity makes it subject to the same clogging behavior observed with Routers.
• Place Distributor centrally in complex networks where many factories or consumers require the same resource to minimize the number of routing stages and reduce latency introduced by multiple routing blocks.
• Because it is Serpulo-exclusive, plan your base layout accordingly when playing on maps or modes that include Serpulo-specific content.
