Generates power from arkycite and ozone.

Overview

The Chemical Combustion Chamber is a power generator that consumes ozone and Arkycite to produce a large amount of power. It is a late-game power option that turns chemically processed resources into a strong and steady electrical output, making it useful when a base has access to the production chain for both inputs. At present it generates 550 power units per second while consuming 2 ozone per second and 40 Arkycite per second.

Its role is tightly tied to fluid and resource logistics. Ozone must usually be produced through an Electrolyzer setup, while Arkycite is supplied through Reinforced Pumps. One Electrolyzer can support 2 Chemical Combustion Chambers with ozone and can also fuel 4 Reinforced Pumps, enough to supply 8 chambers if the rest of the chain is built around it. Two Turbine Condensers can provide enough water for one Electrolyzer, making a compact loop for feeding these generators. A single Vent Condenser can support 3 Electrolyzers with ozone and also fuel 12 Reinforced Pumps, which is enough for 6 chambers while still leaving extra hydrogen available for other uses such as Plasma Bores, Regen Projectors, and tier 2 unit production.

Because the chamber’s fuel chain is power-dependent, it can become unstable if it is tied too closely to the same grid it is meant to sustain. Vent Condensers used to supply the water for ozone production can trigger a brownout death spiral when the network is running near its power limit: reduced power weakens water production, which lowers ozone output, which in turn cuts the chamber’s power generation and makes recovery harder. Since there is no Battery Diode to cleanly isolate the circuits, it is often safer to keep two Turbine Condensers and an Electrolyzer on a separate, stable supply so they can continue feeding ozone and hydrogen even if the main grid dips. That separation helps the combustion chambers restart and recover instead of collapsing with the rest of the system.

The block was added in Build 136. In Build 149, its construction cost was reduced from 40 tungsten to 20, its build time was lowered from 2.86 to 2.36, and its base power generation was reduced from 600 to 550 power units per second.
