Inverted Sorter

Similar to a standard sorter, but outputs selected items to the sides instead.
Overview
Inverted Sorter is a Serpulo-exclusive item transport block that routes items based on a selectable filter. It behaves like a mirrored
In-game mechanics are as follows. When an item entering the Inverted Sorter matches the currently selected filter, that item is output to both side exits (left and right). Items that fail the filter test, or when the block has no filter set, are passed through to the forward output (the face opposite the input). When the block is disabled by logic control it behaves as a normal Sorter. The block has effectively infinite throughput (instant output) and no conventional “item capacity” in the way conveyors do; in Serpulo rules this class of block is listed with item capacity N/A and infinite move speed.
Restrictions and notable changes: In later versions the Inverted Sorter lost any previously advertised item capacity and it can no longer be chained into runs longer than two light-transport blocks — the four light-transport devices share a continuous-placement limit, so mixing different light-transport devices still counts toward that limit.
Practical usage and interactions:
- Use the Inverted Sorter to feed multiple crafting buildings from a single feed line while sending unwanted or overflow items forward to another destination. Because matching items are emitted on both sides, it can service two adjacent crafters simultaneously.
- Combine Inverted Sorters with regular Sorters,
Overflow Gate,
Underflow Gate, and other light-transport devices to create compact distribution hubs; remember all such light-transport devices share the same placement limit (continuous light-transport runs are constrained).
- The block’s instant transfer and effectively infinite speed make it ideal where space is tight and you need to distribute items quickly to several consumers without long conveyor loops.
- Because logic-disabled Inverted Sorters revert to standard Sorter behavior, use logic signals to temporarily change routing behavior or to integrate them into conditional distribution schemes.
- Plan layouts knowing you cannot chain long sequences of these light-transport blocks; long-distance transport still requires standard conveyors, bridge conveyors, or mass drivers.
In practice, Inverted Sorter is a space-efficient distributor for compact production lines and works best when paired with nearby crafters or unloading points that can accept side inputs.
