Overview

Air Factory is a unit-producing building introduced in version 6.0. It functions as a factory specialized for producing airborne combat units and appears among the game's unit factory-class structures. The Air Factory assembles specific high-mobility air units; one documented output is the Chrome Wraith. As with other unit-producing blocks, the Air Factory stores up to twice the production cost of its output unit, allowing it to queue and buffer multiple builds when supplied.

Production and resource requirements for the Chrome Wraith on an Air Factory are: 30 items per second input rate (aggregate resource throughput) and a production time of 41.67 seconds per unit. These values reflect the factory’s throughput expectations when the correct item inputs are provided continuously. The block was given balance adjustments after release; in Build 147.1 its research cost was reduced, with copper requirement lowered from 1900 → 900 and lead requirement lowered from 2200 → 1100.

Practical notes for use and integration:

  • The Air Factory behaves like other unit factories in terms of internal buffering: it can accumulate up to twice the resources required to produce a single unit, enabling bursts of unit output when resources arrive in batches.
  • Maintain a steady supply of the factory’s required input items at the listed input rate (30/sec for Chrome Wraith) to keep production running at full efficiency; interruptions lengthen spawn intervals proportionally.
  • Place logistics and item transport (conveyors, sorters, or payload systems appropriate for unit factories) to feed the Air Factory without pinch points; the factory’s internal buffer helps smooth short interruptions but cannot replace sustained throughput.
  • Use unit-control structures to order produced units; unit-command blocks on the same network can direct units to Attack, Rally, or Idle after they spawn.
  • Research prerequisites and costs changed after launch; check technology and build numbers when planning long-term strategies, since research costs were reduced in later builds.

Air Factory occupies the role of mid-to-high tier unit production for aerial forces. When combined with steady resource logistics and unit command infrastructure, it enables consistent deployment of air units like the Chrome Wraith for map control and offensive operations.
