Interplanetary Accelerator

Interplanetary Accelerator is a block in Mindustry used for interplanetary deployment functions. It was introduced in an early build and has undergone several changes affecting how and where it can be built, its deployment behavior, and its visual feedback for the player.

The block stores a large amount of power and interacts with a special Core structure referred to as the nucleus core. The Accelerator’s stored power is significant: 1,000,000 units of stored power is equivalent to 20 Large Batteries. When the nucleus core requirement is completed and resources are filling the launch, the Accelerator can launch items alongside the nucleus — up to 12,000 items will be launched with the nucleus when conditions are met.

Development and behavior history:

• In its initial appearance (an unknown early build) the Interplanetary Accelerator was added to the game but behaved differently in the editor: it previously displayed a congratulatory message once its inputs were satisfied and could not be researched or placed outside the editor.
• V8 Build 147 beta changed the block so it can be built outside the editor and added the ability to deploy onto any sector, expanding its functional use in the campaign and sandbox modes.
• V8 Build 148 beta added a visual indicator tied to the Core: Nucleus, making its incomplete and complete states clearer to the player.
• V8 Build 155 beta modified launch behavior so that once the nucleus core requirement is completed and any resource is filling up, up to 12,000 items will be launched with the nucleus.

Practical usage and interaction notes:

• Manage power carefully: large-scale launches require on the order of millions of power units, so plan heavy power generation and storage (for reference, 1,000,000 power equals 20 Large Batteries).
• Ensure the nucleus core requirement is satisfied before attempting a launch; the Accelerator’s behavior depends on the core state and now provides a visual indicator of completeness.
• When preparing a launch that includes resources, be aware of the maximum bundled item count (12,000 items as of V8 Build 155 beta) and stage resource inflows accordingly to avoid waste or partial loads.
• Because the block became placeable and deployable across sectors in later builds, it can be integrated into interplanetary strategies rather than being limited to editor demonstrations.
